#LoveAndThunder is a sequel to Thor: Ragnarok, and Avengers: Endgame. The film will adapt a Lady Thor story arc from the recent Marvel Comics series The Mighty Thor. It is the twenty-ninth film in the MCU and sixth and final film of Phase Four.

Thor: Love and Thunder is shaping up to do to the Asgardian God of Thunder what Captain America: Civil War did to everyone’s favourite defrosted war veteran.

Last month, it was reported that the fourth solo Thor movie was going to have an “Avengers 5 feel” due to its ensemble cast, which is set to feature MCU crossovers to rival the Cap vs Iron Man battle of Civil War.

With so little known about the plot beyond the return of Natalie Portman, we don’t yet know if Thor: Love and Thunder will end up feeling more like an Avengers movie than a Thor movie.

First, the confirmed Thor: Love and Thunder cast. No surprise on who is front and centre. Yep. Chris Hemsworth is back as the God of Thunder, Thor. Joining him is the newly-installed ruler of New Asgard, Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson).

In a surprise reveal at SDCC, Natalie Portman was brought on stage. It was announced that she would be returning to the MCU as Jane Foster, but not any old Jane Foster. This Jane Foster – whether she’s from a multiverse or not is unclear – will be The Mighty Thor, a plot point drawn straight from the comic.

Director Taika Waititi will also once again be appearing in front of the camera as Korg. Star-Lord himself, Chris Pratt, is also showing up in the new Thor movie. Its unknown just how much of a role he’ll have but at least we essentially have confirmation that the Asgardians of the Galaxy ride again.

Chris Hemsworth has called it “one of the best scripts he’s read in years.” Accurate? Well, if you believe director Taika Waititi, it’s going to be Ragnarok turned up to eleven.
