Paul Bettany is a remarkable film performer, who drew his first breath in 1971. He is most noted for his roles in Gangster #1 as well as A Knight’s Tale. The father Thane was originally from Malaysia. At first he worked as a mechanic in the Royal Navy’s Fleet Army but then decided to pursue a dancing career and got interested in ballet. He danced at the Royal Ballet but injured his back which led to the end of his path in the dancing world. After that he started featuring in movies, yet with the time moved to a completely different sphere- being a teacher at a girls’ boarding school. At the age of 63, he came out as gay. He passed away in 2015, aged 86.

The mother’s name is Anne and she is a former actress, who could be seen on TV as well as on stage. In 1968 she married Thane and gave birth to three children with him. After 25 years of being together, they divorced.

Paul has two siblings. Sarah is an older sister, who is a writer by profession. It is also known that she lives in Cornwall, England with a daughter.

Matthew was a younger brother, who tragically died in 1987, aged 8 by falling from a tennis pavilion roof. This loss made the celebrity a neurotic parent, as he always wants to protect his children.

Coming closer to Bettany’s personal life, he walked a talented actress Jennifer Connelly down to the altar in 2003 and the two lovebirds have been inseparable ever since. They got acquainted while filming A Beautiful Mind, yet their relationship began a little bit later.
When Paul went to Tuscany to make a film, he found out about the 9/11 terror attack and called Jennifer to find out if everything was ok with her. During the call, he proposed to her, even though they didn’t have even one date. In the end, the couple got hitched in January 2003, in Scotland.

The pair’s firstborn is a son Stellan, who was delivered in August 2003. It was he who made his famed father quit smoking, as he started copying him using a pen. One more curious fact: he debuted on a big screen in Shelter, portraying Jake.

In 2011 the family welcomed a daughter Agnes. It would be interesting to know that she was born at parent’s home in New York via water birth. Agnes is a big fan of traveling and hiking.

The third child is a stepson Kai, who was born in 1997. He is a common child to Jennifer and her first spouse David Dugan. He is a smart man, who studied at Yale University and graduated with a degree in calculus and physics. Also, he is passionate about engineering.
